To set the preferences choose the Genealogy Pro⇒Preferences ... menu. The preferences window will have a menu at the top of the window. Select 'GEDCOM' from the menu. The window depicted below will show the preferences for importing and exporting to GEDCOM format.

The export preferences allow you to choose the type of line endings in the file. Macintosh line endings usually end in carriage return (CR, or '\r'). Unix system files usually end in a line feed (LF, or '\n'). Windows system files usually end with both a carriage return and a line feed (CRLF, or '\r\n'). Sometimes genealogy programs written for the windows operating system may not be able to read GEDCOM files without the Windows line endings. If you find you have problems importing GEDCOM files generated by Genealogy Pro into another genealogy program, you may wish to try changing the line endings option for the exported file.
The native Genealogy Pro source differs from the GEDCOM standard. Genealogy Pro sources can be of several different types. By default Genealogy Pro will convert any source to a 'Publication' (eg a book, newspaper, journal). However, you can choose to have Genealogy Pro prompt for a source type when it encounters a new source when processing the file. You can then set the source type manually during the import process.
The components of a 'Place' (eg country, state, city) is separated by a comma "," in a GEDCOM file. The GEDCOM standard 5.5 specifies that the order of places is specificied at the beginning of the file in a 'Header'. Genealogy Pro supports this format for export and import. However, if this information is missing, for example if the GEDCOM file is not strictly formatted according to this specification, then there is the potential that places will not be imported properly. This will be evident by a Country appearing in a 'State' field or vice-versa, when the file is imported into Genealogy Pro. To rectify this, Genealogy pro allows you to specify the format of the Place, where the format is not specified in the header of the file
To customise the way Genealogy Pro imports Places, check 'Interpret places where not specified in the Gedcom Header' check box. Choose the format from the menu (as depicted below). Genealogy Pro will use this schema for interpreting the place.

The GEDCOM submitter window allows you to set the submitter description. The 'Submitter' is information such as the name and address of the person who created the file, stored at the beginning of the GEDCOM file.
