Registering Your Web Site

You can create a web space to publish your family tree on the internet using Genealogy Pro by using the following steps.

1. Choose a name for your Account

Before creating your internet site, you need to create an internet site name that people type into their web browser to access your site. GenealogyPro.net allows you to create a unique internet name in the form of:

familyname.genealogypro.net

You will first need to choose a name for your account and check that the name is available using the "Check Name" tool. When you go to the check domain name page, enter your chosen name into the box, and click on the "Check" button.

If the account name is available for use, a message similar to that depicted below will indicate so. If the name is not available, this screen will indicate that you should choose another name and try again.

Note: The naming rules allow only lowercase characters in the range a-z, A-Z, 0-9. Names cannot begin with a number.

2. Subscribe to the GenealogyPro.net

Go to the subscription page and click on the "Buy now" button. This will take you to the front page for registering an account. You will be give options for the account type, starting at $1 per month for the "Starter" account.

After you click the "Buy Now" button, you will be directed to a page where you enter the name you have chosen for your internet site, and a user name to use for secure log in to your account. Upon choosing a valid name you will then be directed to the safe and secure Pay Pal service. Pay pal automatically deducts monthly payments from your credit card, or from your PayPal account, if you have an account. You can cancel your subscription at any time, prior to the start of the next deduction. Cancellation takes affect from the end of the current subscription period.

After creating your account online, your account is usually availble for use within minutes to hours.

When your account is created you will automatically be sent account information. This includes two sets of passwords.
